
He is a qualified Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and High Court of Australia, having graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the Queensland University of Technology. He was also a qualified Barrister & Solicitor in New South Wales when he had a brief stint working in Sydney for a large financial services conglomerate.
During the course of his career, Carl has worked both as a private practice lawyer and as an in-house corporate legal counsel within banking, insurance, financial planning, funds management, stockbroking and investment research businesses. He has acted for domestic and international institutions, private and public companies, small business owners and individual clients.
He has successfully represented individual and corporate clients in the Magistrates Court, District Court, Supreme Court and Federal Court of Australia, as well as in non-court tribunals such as the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Financial Ombudsman Service. He is also a Registered Migration Agent with the Migration Agents Registration Authority, and is a Justice of the Peace (Qualified).

Wei-Loong Chen is a Consultant at Winthrop Mason, and has been a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland for some 15 years. He has deep practical expertise and understanding of issues facing the financial and credit services industry in the real world. He has also extensively assisted clients with preparations for and the implementation of regulatory reforms, managing difficult regulatory outcomes and assisting with the assessment of these as part of their risk management program.
His expertise is in helping financial services organisations navigate licensing, regulatory and legal requirements, and has advised financial services clients on tailoring functions and activities to meet financial services’ legal and regulatory requirements.

Mark works as a Consultant-Paralegal for Winthrop Mason, and has been working in the legal industry for the last 15 years. He was a practising lawyer in the Philippines and is currently seeking recognition to be admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland. He graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Law and completed his bridging course in law in the University of Southern Queensland.

Rebekah Male works as the Secretary for Winthrop Mason. She does an amazing job behind the scenes to enable us to focus on many client-facing matters. She deals with a broad range of administrative tasks, from binding, printing and scanning important documents, to dealing with any routine IT-related issues, and basically to anything else that needs to be done so that we can best serve your needs. Having been in a secretarial role for a number of years, she is more than capable of handling any task given to her. Being a quick learner and having impeccable attention to detail makes her a fantastic asset to our firm. She never hesitates to assist her fellow team members.

Megan Jaques is the Corporate Receptionist for Winthrop Mason.
